North Ridge (Arête Nord)

The North Ridge is the classic mountaineering line on Dôme de Miage and is widely documented in guidebooks for the Mont Blanc massif. It is a long alpine ridge route with sustained snow and mixed terrain rather than a pure rock climb. Conditions can vary greatly, with exposed sections and objective hazards from snow, ice, and crevasses on the approach. The route is generally climbed from the Refuge des Conscrits, often as a one- or two-day outing depending on conditions and acclimatization. It is considered a serious alpine climb requiring glacier travel skills and comfort on exposed ridge terrain. The descent is commonly made by reversing the route.
