North Face via the Charpoua Glacier and North Ridge

This is one of the classic and most serious lines on Aiguille de Triolet. It combines glacier travel, steep snow and ice, and exposed mixed climbing on the upper mountain. The route is highly condition-dependent, with objective hazards from seracs, crevasses, and rockfall. The upper ridge can require sustained technical climbing in alpine conditions. It is generally regarded as a demanding high-mountain ascent rather than a straightforward snow route. A competent team should expect a long, committing outing with complex route-finding.

Route Outline

Argentière / Tré-le-Champ area -> Charpoua Glacier approach
Charpoua Hut or bivouac -> foot of the north face
Ascend the glacier and mixed snow/ice slopes to the north ridge
Follow the ridge and upper snow/ice slopes to the summit
Descend by the same route or via a suitable descent line depending on conditions
