Normal route via the south-west ridge

This is the standard and best-documented mountaineering route on Pizzo Cengalo. It follows the south-west ridge and is a serious alpine climb rather than a hike. The route is typically on steep rock with sections of mixed terrain, and it requires solid route-finding and mountain experience. Conditions can vary significantly with snow and ice on the upper mountain. Rockfall is a notable hazard on Cengalo, especially in warm conditions. The route is generally considered a long, exposed climb in the AD range.
