Normal route via the South Ridge
This is the standard mountaineering ascent of Les Aiguilles d'Arves and the best-known way to the summit. It follows the South Ridge, which is a sustained alpine route on mixed terrain rather than a simple hiking path. The route involves scrambling and exposed passages on rock, with route-finding that can be more serious in poor visibility. Conditions on the ridge can vary significantly with snow and ice, increasing the difficulty. It is a classic alpine climb in the Arves Massif and is generally treated as a mountaineering objective rather than a trek. The descent is normally made by reversing the ascent route.
