Normal route via the Rosenlaui Glacier and the south-west ridge

3A | AD | III Edit route
This is the classic and best-known mountaineering route on Wetterhorn. It is a glacier-and-ridge ascent with mixed snow and rock, generally considered a serious alpine climb rather than a hike. The route is exposed to objective hazards from glacier travel, crevasses, and rockfall, especially in warm conditions. The upper ridge requires sure-footedness and comfort on steep alpine terrain. Conditions can vary significantly with snow cover, and route-finding is important. It is typically climbed from a high mountain hut or as a long day from the valley, depending on conditions and party strength.
