Normal route via the Rifugio Firenze and the south ridge

2A | PD | II Edit route
This is the standard documented mountaineering ascent of Sass Rigais from the south side. It follows a steep, exposed alpine route with fixed protection in the more difficult sections. The climbing is generally in the easy via ferrata to low-grade rock range, but it is still a genuine alpine route rather than a simple hike. Route-finding is straightforward in good weather, but the upper mountain is exposed to rockfall and sudden weather changes. The route is commonly approached from the Rifugio Firenze/Regensburger Hütte area. It is the best-known summit route on the peak and the one most often described in guidebooks.
