Normal Route via the Ossoue Glacier

This is the classic and best-documented mountaineering line to the highest point of the Vignemale massif. It is primarily a glacier and snow route, with difficulty depending strongly on seasonal conditions and crevasse state. The route is usually straightforward in stable summer conditions but requires full alpine equipment and glacier travel skills. Objective hazards include crevasses, serac or snow instability, and poor visibility on the glacier. The upper section can become steeper and more exposed if snow cover is thin. It is generally considered the standard ascent rather than a technical rock climb.
