Normal route via the East Ridge from Rifugio Gastaldi

2A | PD | II Edit route
This is the standard and best-known mountaineering route to Uia di Ciamarella. It is a classic alpine glacier-and-ridge ascent, generally considered the normal way from the Italian side via Rifugio Gastaldi. The route involves snow and glacier travel, with the usual objective hazards of crevasses and changing snow conditions. The upper section follows a ridge to the summit and is typically straightforward in stable conditions, but it remains a real alpine climb rather than a hike. Exact timing and elevation gain vary by source and conditions, so they are omitted here. It is commonly described in alpine guidebooks for the Graian Alps and the Ciamarella area.
