Normal route via the Col du Tour Noir

2A | PD | II Edit route
This is the standard and best-documented way to climb Le Tour Noir. It is a classic glaciated alpine route, generally involving straightforward snow and ice slopes rather than technical rock climbing. The main objective hazards are crevasses, serac or snow instability depending on conditions, and route-finding on the glacier. The difficulty is usually moderate alpine mountaineering, with the exact seriousness depending strongly on late-season snow cover. It is normally climbed with glacier equipment and rope travel. The route is typically done as an out-and-back ascent from the glacier approach.
