This is the standard documented alpine route to Spielmann and is generally climbed from the Rudolfshütte area in the Stubachtal/Weißsee region. It follows high alpine terrain on the southwest side and then the ridge to the summit. The route is typically straightforward in dry summer conditions but requires sure-footedness and basic alpine experience. Depending on conditions, snowfields or lingering firn can increase the seriousness of the climb. The upper section is exposed in places and can feel considerably more difficult when icy or poorly consolidated. It is a mountaineering route rather than a hiking trail.
