Normal route from the Refuge de Pierredar

2A | PD | II Edit route
This is the standard documented alpine route to the summit of Sommet des Diablerets. It is a glaciated snow route rather than a hiking path, and conditions can vary significantly with season and snow cover. The route is generally considered straightforward in mountaineering terms but requires competence with glacier travel, crevasse awareness, and route-finding in poor visibility. Objective hazards include crevasses, snow instability, and rockfall or serac-related issues depending on conditions. The difficulty is usually modest by alpine standards, but an ice axe, crampons, and rope are typically appropriate. The route is commonly approached from the Refuge de Pierredar, which serves as the usual high starting point for the summit ascent.
