Normal route from the Monte Rosa Hut

2A | PD | II Edit route
This is the standard and best-documented way to climb Dunantspitze, usually undertaken from the Monte Rosa Hut. The route crosses the upper Monte Rosa Glacier and then follows broad snow and ice slopes to the summit ridge. It is a classic high-alpine glacier ascent, with objective hazards from crevasses and changing snow conditions. The technical difficulty is generally moderate, but route-finding can be important in poor visibility. It is normally climbed with full glacier equipment and rope travel. Conditions can vary significantly with season and weather, especially on the upper glacier and summit slopes.
