This is the standard and best-documented ascent of Punta Giordani. It is a classic glacier-and-snow climb, usually started from Rifugio Mantova on the Monte Rosa massif. The route crosses the Garstelet Glacier and then gains the summit by the south-west ridge or upper snow slopes. The technical difficulty is generally modest, but glacier travel and crevasse awareness are essential. Conditions can vary significantly with snow cover, and the upper slopes may be steep enough to require crampons and an ice axe. In poor visibility, route-finding on the glacier and near the summit ridge can be problematic.
