Normal route from the Fridolinshütte via the Bifertenfirn and the south ridge

3A | AD | III Edit route
This is the standard alpine route to Hausstock and is the best-documented ascent line for the peak. It starts from the Fridolinshütte and crosses the Bifertenfirn before gaining the upper south side of the mountain. The route is a glacier-and-snow climb with some steeper sections near the summit ridge. Conditions on the firn and the upper slopes can vary significantly with snow cover and crevasse exposure. In late season, the route may become more broken and require more careful route-finding. It is generally a mountaineering objective rather than a hiking ascent.
