Normal Route (from the east / Refugio Laguna Blanca side)

3A | AD | III Edit route
This is the standard and best-documented ascent line on Cerro Mercedario. It is a long high-altitude climb on mostly non-technical terrain, but the route is serious because of altitude, exposure to weather, and the length of the approach. The line typically uses scree, moraine, snow slopes, and a broad ridge rather than sustained rock climbing. Objective hazards include cold, wind, loose rock, and snow/ice conditions depending on season. It is generally considered a mountaineering route rather than a trekking trail. Exact distances and timings vary by expedition logistics and are not consistently documented in the sources I can verify.
