Normal route from the Defreggerhaus via the South Ridge

2A | PD | II Edit route
This is the standard and best-documented ascent route to Dreiherrenspitze. It is an alpine mountaineering route on mixed rock and scree terrain rather than a hiking trail. The difficulties are generally easy but require sure-footedness and basic route-finding in high alpine terrain. Conditions can vary significantly with snow and ice lingering on the upper slopes. The route is typically climbed from the Defreggerhaus area, which serves as the usual high base for the summit attempt. Exposure is limited compared with more serious Tauern climbs, but weather and visibility remain important factors.
