Normal route from Rifugio Mantova / Gnifetti via the Parrotspitze south-east ridge

This is the standard and best-known ascent of Parrotspitze from the Monte Rosa hut network. The route is a classic high-alpine glacier and snow climb, usually undertaken with rope and full glacier equipment. Difficulties are generally moderate, but route-finding can be serious in poor visibility because the approach crosses crevassed glacier terrain. The final ridge is usually climbed on snow and mixed ground, with conditions varying significantly by season. Objective hazards include crevasses, serac exposure on the glacier approach, and wind or hard snow on the upper ridge. It is commonly combined with other Monte Rosa summits in a traverse or acclimatization outing.
