Normal route from Rifugio Mantova / Gnifetti Hut via the eastern glacier slopes
This is the standard documented mountaineering route to Corno Nero, usually climbed as a glacier ascent from the Monte Rosa huts. It is generally considered a straightforward alpine snow route, but it requires full glacier travel equipment and crevasse awareness. The route crosses high glaciated terrain and can be affected by poor visibility, fresh snow, and late-season crevasse opening. The final slopes are typically moderate, with the main objective hazards being glacier travel and altitude. It is commonly combined with nearby Monte Rosa summits in a longer traverse or acclimatization outing.
