Normal route from Lauchernalp via Hockenhorngrat

This is the standard alpine route to Hockenhorn and is generally described as a straightforward glacier-and-snow ascent. It is usually done from the Lauchernalp/Hockenhorngrat side, often with lift assistance to reduce the approach. The route is not technically difficult in normal conditions, but it requires proper glacier travel equipment and awareness of crevasse and snow conditions. The upper mountain is typically climbed on broad snow slopes and a simple ridge finish. In late season, the route can become more broken and more exposed to rock and ice. It is a classic Bernese Alps wide-meaning summit objective rather than a pure hiking peak.
