East Route

The east side is another established route on Damavand, documented as a mountaineering ascent rather than a trekking path. It is typically less popular than the south route and may involve longer, more isolated travel on the mountain. The terrain is volcanic and can include loose scree, snow, and ice depending on conditions. Route-finding and weather exposure are important considerations. As with the other sides of Damavand, altitude is a major factor in difficulty.

South Route

This is the standard and best-known mountaineering line on Damavand, usually climbed from the southern side. Main objective hazards are altitude, cold, wind, and volcanic scree or snow depending on season.
