East Ridge

This is the standard and best-known mountaineering route on Piz Palü. It follows the Fortezza Ridge, a mixed alpine ridge with snow, ice, and rock sections. The North Face of Piz Palü is a major alpine face route and is significantly more serious than the ridge climbs. It is a steep snow-and-ice objective with avalanche, serac, and crevasse hazards depending on conditions. The line is a classic high-alpine ascent and is only suitable for experienced climbers in stable conditions. Route-finding and timing are important because the face can change quickly with weather and temperature. It is a documented mountaineering route for the mountain in well-known alpine references.
