This is the normal and most established alpine route associated with the summit of Pic Oriental de la Meije. It is a long ridge climb with significant exposure and complex terrain. Snow, ice, and loose rock may all be encountered depending on season and conditions. The upper mountain is serious and committing, with objective hazards from rockfall and changing weather. It is one of the best-known classic ascents in the Écrins massif.
