Arête de Rochefort

This is the standard and best-known route to the summit of Aiguille de Rochefort. It follows the sharp Rochefort ridge, a classic high alpine snow-and-rock arête in the Mont Blanc massif. The route is serious rather than technically hard, with exposure, cornices, and route-finding playing a major role. Conditions can vary greatly with snow cover and wind, and the ridge is often climbed with crampons and rope. It is commonly approached from the Col de Rochefort, typically after an ascent to the Torino Hut or from the Italian side. The descent is usually by the same line, so safe conditions on the ridge are essential.
