This is the standard and best-documented mountaineering route on Rocciamelone. It follows the mountain’s southwest side from the Ca d'Asti refuge to the summit, generally on steep but straightforward alpine terrain. The route is usually climbed as a snow-and-rock ascent depending on season and conditions. It is not technically difficult in the alpine-climbing sense, but it is exposed in places and can feel serious in poor weather or with hard snow. The route is commonly described as a classic PD/A2-type ascent in guidebook-style classifications. Descent is normally by the ascent route.
