Add route
This is the standard and best-known mountaineering route to Rheinwaldhorn. It is a glacier and snow climb rather than a hiking path, and normally starts from Capanna Adula CAS. The route is generally considered moderate in alpine difficulty, but conditions on the glacier and upper slopes can vary significantly. Crevasse exposure and snow stability are the main objective hazards. In late season, the route can become more broken and require more careful route-finding. It is the classic ascent described in Swiss alpine guidebooks for the peak.

A documented alternative ascent to Rheinwaldhorn is made from the southern side of the massif. It is a mountaineering route on snow and glacier terrain, not a trekking trail. The line is typically longer and more remote-feeling than the normal north-side ascent. As with the standard route, glacier travel skills are required and crevasse danger may be present. The upper mountain is usually climbed on snow slopes leading to the summit. Exact timing and statistics vary with the chosen access and conditions.
