This is the standard and best-documented mountaineering route on Pizzo Scalino. It is generally climbed from the south side, usually with a start from the Campo Moro area and an overnight at Rifugio Marinelli-Bombardieri. The route is typically a glacier-and-snow ascent with some mixed terrain near the upper mountain, depending on conditions. It is usually considered a straightforward alpine climb rather than a technical rock route, but glacier travel and crevasse awareness are required.
