Mountaineering Routes · Pic Gaspard

Add route
This is the standard and best-known way to climb Pic Gaspard from the La Bérarde side. The route typically involves glacier travel on the Glacier de la Selle and then a climb to the summit ridge or upper slopes. It is a serious alpine route because of crevasse danger, possible serac exposure, and the need for stable snow conditions. The difficulty is mainly mountaineering rather than technical rock climbing, but route-finding can be complex in poor visibility. Conditions on the glacier and upper mountain vary significantly with season and snow cover. A rope, crampons, ice axe, and glacier travel skills are normally required.
