Southwest Ridge

4A | D | IV
The Southwest Ridge is the best-known and most frequently cited climbing line on Noshaq. It is a serious high-altitude alpine route on a very high peak in the Eastern Hindu Kush. The route is typically described as involving glacier travel, steep snow, and mixed ridge climbing. Objective hazards include crevasses, avalanche danger, and unstable high-altitude weather. Because of the mountain’s remoteness, logistics and acclimatization are major parts of the undertaking. Published sources generally treat it as a major expedition route rather than a short technical climb.
