This is the standard and best-documented route on Muztagh Ata, and it is the line used by most summit parties. It is a very high-altitude snow and glacier ascent rather than a technical rock or ice climb. The route is generally considered non-technical in normal conditions, but it is long and physically demanding because of the altitude and the sustained snow slopes. Crevasse exposure and weather are the main objective hazards. In typical seasons, climbers use multiple camps or a high camp on the southwest flank before making the summit push. The route is commonly climbed on skis or on foot, depending on conditions and team style.
