The West Face is a major alpine route on Mount Aspiring and is significantly more serious than the North West Ridge. It is a steep snow-and-ice climb with sustained exposure and a higher commitment level. The face is subject to avalanche, serac, and rockfall hazards depending on conditions. It is typically attempted only in stable weather and good mountain conditions. The route demands strong alpine skills, including efficient glacier travel and secure movement on steep terrain. It is a documented mountaineering line on the peak, not a trekking route.
