This is the standard and best-documented mountaineering route on Monte Zebrù. It is a classic alpine snow-and-ice ascent with glacier travel and a final ridge section to the summit. The route is generally considered non-technical in dry, stable conditions, but it requires competence with crampons, rope travel, and crevasse awareness. Objective hazards include crevasses, serac or snow instability depending on conditions, and poor visibility on the glacier. The route is commonly climbed from Rifugio Pizzini-Frattola, which serves as the usual high base. Conditions can change the difficulty substantially, especially later in the season when snow cover is reduced.

Monte Zebrù has a documented north face line that is distinctly more serious than the normal route. It is an alpine face climb involving steeper snow and ice, with conditions that can vary widely from season to season. The route demands solid movement on steep terrain and careful assessment of avalanche and ice-fall hazards. It is not a hiking route and is only suitable for experienced mountaineers. Because the exact character of the face depends heavily on conditions, the practical difficulty may fluctuate. The route is typically treated as a mountaineering objective rather than a standard summit walk.
