The normal route on Monte Carè Alto is a classic high-mountain ascent on mixed terrain, typically involving glacier travel, rocky sections, and exposed scrambling near the summit. It is generally approached from the Adamello-Presanella side and is usually done with an alpine start. The route is not a simple hike and requires competence with crampons, rope work, and route-finding in a glaciated environment. Objective hazards can include crevasses, rockfall, and rapidly changing weather. The upper mountain is steeper and more serious than the lower approach, with sustained alpine terrain to the summit. It is the best-known documented mountaineering line on the peak.
