Add route
This is the classic and best-known ascent of Mont Buet, usually described as a long alpine hike with short easy scrambling rather than a technical climb. The route is commonly taken from the Refuge de la Pierre à Bérard, which serves as the usual base for the summit day. The upper mountain is reached via the Col de Salenton and the south-east side of the peak. In early season or after fresh snow, the route can require mountaineering equipment and good route-finding. The main objective hazards are snowfields, poor visibility, and the long duration of the outing. In dry summer conditions, the difficulties remain modest but the terrain is still high alpine and exposed to weather changes.
