This is the standard and best-documented ascent of Habicht. It starts from the Innsbrucker Hütte and reaches the summit via the Habichtscharte and the south side of the mountain. The route is a mountain hike with short easy climbing sections rather than a pure trekking path. In the upper part, the terrain becomes steeper and more exposed, especially on rocky and loose ground. Snow or ice can make the route significantly more serious early in the season. It is the usual line for climbers seeking the summit from the Stubai side.
